Kate Blakeslee Studio Visit

Artist, Kate Blakeslee, lives in the countryside of Petaluma, California, where her pastels sit in a serene studio below her house. Her 20+ years in West Marin and Petaluma seep through her work, each hilly curve and burst of floral hue noted with integrity. Cecilia Payne, the oldest of her three daughters, is photographed with her below. Kate showed us a range of old and new works, some daughter-made favorites, and the series she would grab if there was a fire: Cecilia’s “Three Jewish Uncles” (small clay sculptures made and named in an after school program at age nine, pictured below).
